A Simpler Minimum Spanning

چکیده

The problem considered here is that of determining whether a given spanning tree is a minimal spanning tree. In 1984, Komll os presented an algorithm which required only a linear number of comparisons, but nonlinear overhead to determine which comparisons to make. We simplify his algorithm and give a linear time procedure for its implementation in the unit cost RAM model. The procedure uses table lookup of a few simple functions, which we precompute in time linear in the size of the tree.

A Metaheuristic Algorithm for the Minimum Routing Cost Spanning Tree Problem

The routing cost of a spanning tree in a weighted and connected graph is defined as the total length of paths between all pairs of vertices. The objective of the minimum routing cost spanning tree problem is to find a spanning tree such that its routing cost is minimum. This is an NP-Hard problem that we present a GRASP with path-relinking metaheuristic algorithm for it. GRASP is a multi-start ...

Minimum-Cost Spanning Tree as a Path-Finding Problem

In this paper we show that minimum-cost spanning tree is a special case of the closed semiring path-nding problem. This observation gives us a non-recursive algorithm for nding minimum-cost spanning trees on mesh-connected computers that has the same asymptotic running time but is much simpler than the previous recursive algorithms.

Density Adaptive Parallel Clustering

In this paper we are going to introduce a new nearest neighbours based approach to clustering, and compare it with previous solutions; the resulting algorithm, which takes inspiration from both DBscan and minimum spanning tree approaches, is deterministic but proves simpler, faster and doesn’t require to set in advance a value for k, the number of clusters.

Spectral-spatial classification of hyperspectral images by combining hierarchical and marker-based Minimum Spanning Forest algorithms

Many researches have demonstrated that the spatial information can play an important role in the classification of hyperspectral imagery. This study proposes a modified spectral–spatial classification approach for improving the spectral–spatial classification of hyperspectral images. In the proposed method ten spatial/texture features, using mean, standard deviation, contrast, homogeneity, corr...

Engineering an External Memory Minimum Spanning Tree Algorithm

We develop an external memory algorithm for computing minimum spanning trees. The algorithm is considerably simpler than previously known external memory algorithms for this problem and needs a factor of at least four less I/Os for realistic inputs. Our implementation indicates that this algorithm processes graphs only limited by the disk capacity of most current machines in time no more than a...

Simpler and Incremental Consistency Checking and Arc Consistency Filtering Algorithms for the Weighted Spanning Tree Constraint

The weighted spanning tree contraint is defined from a set of variables X and a value K. The variables X represent the nodes of a graph and the domain of a variable x ∈ X the neighbors of the node in the graph. In addition each pair (variable, value) is associated with a cost. This constraint states that the graph defined from the variables and the domains of the variables admits a spanning tre...
